High Density Polyethylene Tubing (HDPE) is popular in the environmental industry due to its resistance to VOCs and naturally occurring gasses. HDPE provides better flow rates, greater lifts and stretches less than LDPE (low density). Because of its rigidity, High Density Polyethylene is the preferred tubing for deeper monitoring wells. On PFOA / PFOS sensitive sites, HDPE is replacing Teflon as the tubing of choice.
ECT Mfg's HDPE tubing was tested to see if it would contribute detectable PFAS compounds to exposed field samples. ECT's HDPE tubing was submitted to an independent laboratory for analysis of the presences of 40 PFAS compounds including PFOS and PFOA. Laboratory results found that ECT's HDPE tubing was non-detect for all 40 PFAS compounds tested using EPA Laboratory Method 537M. ECT’s HDPE tubing is an unlikely source of contamination for Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances in field samples.
