Silicone environmental tubing is favored by professionals for its resistance to extreme temperatures, UV, ozone, moisture and gasses. Translucent, odorless and inert, it is often used for sample collection with a peristaltic pump. ECT's food grade Masterflex equivalent L/S silicone tubing is commonly used as peristaltic pump head tubing, for vacuum pumps, hose union connectors, and sleeves or gaskets on vapor pin systems.
ECT Mfg had its silicone tubing tested to see if it would contribute detectable PFAS compounds to exposed field samples. ECT's silicone tubing was submitted to an independent laboratory for analysis of the presences of 40 PFAS compounds including PFOS and PFOA. Laboratory results found that ECT's silicone tubing was non-detect for all 40 PFAS compounds tested using EPA Laboratory Method 537M. ECT’s silicone tubing is an unlikely source of contamination for Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl (PFAS) substances in field samples.
